Düşlerin İlk Günü
“Düşlerin İlk Günü” (The First Day of Dreams), whose exhibition design and installation we took on, is a wide-ranging solo show bringing together the last ten years of artist Umut Kambak's work.
Through works shaped at the meeting point of light, shadow and memory, the exhibition invites the visitor to think again about the border between reality and dream.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
“Düşlerin İlk Günü” is a wide-ranging solo show bringing together the last ten years of artist Umut Kambak's work. The project, whose exhibition design and installation we took on, meets the visitor with an experiential narrative in which light, shadow and memory are folded into one another.
Kambak's practice is built on a perceptual experience in which the presence of the shadow is felt before the presence of the object. Continuously shifting the position of the light to reshape the shadow, the artist strikes a distinctive balance between the technical and the poetic.
The ceramics, wire constructions, light installations and kinetic reliefs in the exhibition investigate how fragmented images transform within a space. Shadow is treated not merely as a consequence of the object but as a layer of alternative identity and memory.
Moving back and forth between the real and its dark echo, the exhibition invites the visitor to dwell on “that moment when we cannot tell what is dream and what is real”. “Düşlerin İlk Günü” offers an experiential journey that opens the door onto a world seen for the first time, dreamt for the first time, and perhaps always there.
