The Dreaming Seed
Soil to Surface
We set out the spatial arrangement of the exhibition and carried out its construction and on-site installation. The exhibition follows the cycle of creation, continuity and transformation in the hemp plant through contemporary art, material research and site-specific installations. Artists working with hemp bring together the knowledge of the soil, the rhythm of the body and the transformative power of the material to weave a new language of surface — and invite us to look again, from that surface, at our relationship with nature.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
“The Dreaming Seed: Soil to Surface – ArtonHemp” is a wide-ranging exhibition project centred on the cycle of creation, continuity and transformation in the hemp plant. On this journey from soil to surface, hemp builds a new material language through fibre, texture, form and void. By way of contemporary art practices, material research and site-specific installations, the exhibition invites us to think again about the relationship we have with nature in the context of how we produce and live today.
Artists working with hemp weave new surfaces by joining the knowledge of the soil, the resilience of the plant and the rhythm of the body to the wisdom of craft. They make the fragility and the durability of the fibre visible across the processes of transformation that run from raw material to surface. Throughout the exhibition the visitor is held inside a flow that reaches from the opening moment in which the seed falls into the soil to the moment the fibre is worked into object, surface and space.
The historic fabric of Barın Han enters into dialogue with the natural character of hemp and lends the narrative depth. Stone walls, the play of light in the courtyard, the rhythm of the arches and the memory of the place form a stage for installations that merge with the organic texture of the material.
“The Dreaming Seed: Soil to Surface – ArtonHemp” offers a holistic experience that encourages us to think together about the potential of material, the sharing of knowledge and the possibilities of a future in accord with nature.
